You hear someone
cursing shoplifters.

##d#@#

You see a message
written in the dust,
"Closed for
Inventory".

It is rare for the author to ever draw a partially-lit room in Dudley's dungeon. Are there any previous examples?

Shouldn't the shop have had at least some inventory? Even if only partially lit?

Doesn't "Closed for Inventory" only happen when the shop is empty?

In my limited experience of 'closed for inventory' shops, they've always had at least a couple of items still in there.

Princess Bride ref - love it :D

'closed for inventory' shops don't seem to be any different than regular shops. just generated with a locked doorThrough me you pass into the city of woe:

This is abit ironic, I ran into the "Closed for inventory" for the first time last time. Unfortunately it resulted in YASD, I have a habit of kicking down locked doors...

Ms Talita: "Closed for Inventory" simply means you'll have a difficult time getting in and out easily, or at least without incurring the shopkeeperThese strange creatures live mostly on the surface of the
earth, gathering together in societies of various forms, but
occasionally a stray will descend into the depths and commit
mayhem among the dungeon residents who, naturally, often
resent the intrusion of such beasts. They are capable of
using weapons and magic, and it is even rumored that the
Wizard of Yendor is a member of this species.

In other words, only teleport in and out, or pick the lock.

WizardEbenezum walked before me along the closest thing we could
find to a path in these overgrown woods. Every few paces he
would pause, so that I, burdened with a pack stuffed with
arcane and heavy paraphernalia, could catch up with his
wizardly strides. He, as usual, carried nothing, preferring,
as he often said, to keep his hands free for quick conjuring
and his mind free for the thoughts of a mage.

It's fully lit. The wall is just obstructing his line of sight.

1338h4x, I hereby proclaim that you are an idiot. No offense, but we ALL KNOW THAT. It's just that Dudley's Dungeon doesn't often feature partially lit rooms.
