Maybe it's a cultural thing. Some tacky Americans have Lawn Gnomes (little plastic or metal or ceramic statues of gnomes to put in your yard) all over the place...and maybe some places call them Lawn Dwarves or something :) |

I think it's a Discworld reference. On the Disc, never ever refer to a as a "lawn ornament" unless you feel like suffering a particularly nasty demise. |
