As an European, I have to rate this as E. Everything else would be inappropriate for an education lesson about the right kind of football ;-) |

Quite good. Just short of the magical level needed for an 'E'. I'm strict but fair, but strict. :) |

Rated E, but I have a gripe. If you have the ball, you aren't tackling anyone.....stiff arm, maybe.....tackle, no. Now, the might tackle you or if the has the ball, you'd tackle them (and slip some gloves of fumbling on them?).....but still, I knew the joke and felt it was E-worthy.

Well, your entries may have been a bit uneven, but that term pretty much defines Dudley's Dungeon anyway, so feel free to write some more! We'll gladly sit through any groaners you come up with if it means getting one of these once in a while.
E is for Excellent. :)

"right kind of football"?
I have always wondered why Americans call that game football, when the "ball" isn't ball-shaped and they carry it in their hands instead of kicking it around with their feet.. |

In response to jukka's comments:
1) A "ball" is defined as rounded, movable object, not required to be a . The origin of the shape of the American football is from rugby football, so we weren't the first to come up with this idea :)
2) Many different versions of football exist (Gaelic, Australian, American, etc.), with only association football (the one known in America as "soccer") requiring nearly all parties to refrain from using their hands. Before the forward pass was added in the early 20th century, American football was all about carrying and kicking. |

hmmmph... if it weren't for the comments, I wouldn't have had any idea what this was about!! "Red card" ??? but then, I'm an American... That's why I love holding baby ducks, so I can touch down. |

I may be an American, but it confuses the hell out of me that we use "football" for a game that doesn't use your feet any more than baseball does, and we refuse to call the game you can only play with your feet "football." As a result, I often call "soccer" "football" by accident (lots of English friends too, who reinforce that) and confuse my fellow Americans. |

@mordea, From my dictionary:
Ball. A spherical or almost spherical body.
And rugby is not football :)
Still, the comic is great. Rated E |

I have to agree with Sappho there... but only when I actually think about the word. Most of the time, I fear I'm more like most Americans in that when people in other countries speak of football, I have to think for a moment before I realize they mean what we would call soccer. It comes from being around crazed (American) football fans all the time. |

I hate soccer and all of my friends love it. They also refuse to call it soccer, calling it "football", a sport which I mildly enjoy, and this strip reminds me of my fate. Not rated because it would be through crap-tinted spectacles. |

The game is played like American football, but the ref gives him a red card.
Doesn't make sense. |
