Poor Marvin, I don't think he did so well this year, compared to some of the previous years.

Marvin's game taught me the power. The power of how my deaths make others stronger.

New trophy suggestions. Nightingale: PlayerThese strange creatures live mostly on the surface of the
earth, gathering together in societies of various forms, but
occasionally a stray will descend into the depths and commit
mayhem among the dungeon residents who, naturally, often
resent the intrusion of such beasts. They are capable of
using weapons and magic, and it is even rumored that the
Wizard of Yendor is a member of this species.

that leaves the most bones with a "full" ascension kit for other players. Nightingale with bells on: Same but with the (now fake) amulet"The complete Amulet can keep off all the things that make
people unhappy -- jealousy, bad temper, pride, disagreeableness,
greediness, selfishness, laziness. Evil spirits, people called
them when the Amulet was made. Don't you think it would be nice
to have it?"
"Very," said the children, quite without enthusiasm.
"And it can give you strength and courage."
"That's better," said Cyril.
"And virtue."
"I suppose it's nice to have that," said Jane, but not with much
interest.
"And it can give you your heart's desire."
"Now you're talking," said Robert.

My last Character had a att that said: You have sinned. What does that mean? I was a gnomish female Ranger"Lonely men are we, Rangers of the wild, hunters -- but hunters
ever of the servants of the Enemy; for they are found in many
places, not in Mordor only.
If Gondor, Boromir, has been a stalwart tower, we have played
another part. Many evil things there are that your strong walls
and bright swords do not stay. You know little of the lands
beyond your bounds. Peace and freedom, do you say? The North
would have known them little but for us. Fear would have
destroyed them. But when dark things come from the houseless
hills, or creep from sunless woods, they fly from us. What
roads would any dare to tread, what safety would there be in
quiet lands, or in the homes of simple men at night, if the
Dunedain were asleep, or were all gone into the grave?"

I'm not sure whether this is what you mean, but "You have transgressed" is a measurement of your alignment (or lack thereof, in this case ^^).

know the recipe; but it is biscuitish, keeps good indefinitely,
is supposed to be sustaining, and is certainly not entertaining,
being in fact very uninteresting except as a chewing
exercise. It was made by the Lake-men for long journeys.

"You have sinned" is for when you're seriously misaligned with your deity. "You have transgressed" is the same, only a little worse.
If you're playing as a neutral or lawful character and then go about killing peaceful creatures or eating pets or sacrificing or eating humans, your allignment will plummet. I believe if you're chatoic you still shouldn't eat pets or humans, but the rest is actually good for your alignment...

Was the punchline of this comic a Hitchhiker's Guide"Rincewind!"
Twoflower sprang off the bed. The wizard jumped back,
wrenching his features into a smile.
"My dear chap, right on time! We'll just have lunch, and
then I'm sure you've got a wonderful programme lined up for
this afternoon!"
"Er --"
"That's great!"
Rincewind took a deep breath. "Look," he said desperately,
"let's eat somewhere else. There's been a bit of a fight
down below."
"A tavern brawl? Why didn't you wake me up?"
"Well, you see, I - _what_?"
"I thought I made myself clear this morning, Rincewind. I
want to see genuine Morporkian life - the slave market, the
Whore Pits, the Temple of Small Gods, the Beggar's Guild...
and a genuine tavern brawl." A faint note of suspicion
entered Twoflower's voice. "You _do_ have them, don't you?
You know, people swinging on chandeliers, swordfights over
the table, the sort of thing Hrun the Barbarian and the
Weasel are always getting involved in. You know --
_excitement_."

to the Galaxy reference?

Perhaps it should be phrased a more familiar "I think you ought to know I'm feeling very depressed."

I got "You have sinned" when I killed the oracleDelphi under towering Parnassus, where Apollo's oracle was,
plays an important part in mythology. Castalia was its
sacred spring; Cephissus its river. It was held to be the
center of the world, so many pilgrims came to it, from
foreign countries as well as Greece. No other shrine rivaled
it. The answers to the questions asked by the anxious
seekers for Truth were delivered by a priestess who went into
a trance before she spoke.

Killing your pet is not necessarily killing your pet.

And it isn't pets that you shouldn't eat; it's cats, dogs and maybe horses.

It's not necessarily SINNING.

That's that. If you get that attribute, kill yourself.

It is not.

Enlightenment statement: Alignment range:
"You have strayed." -3 to -1
"You have sinned." -8 to -4
"You have transgressed." -9 or worse

Taken from Matthew Lahut's praying spoiler - http://www.steelypips.org/nethack/pray.html. The same includes a list of actions that can affect your alignment.
