I was a little confused at first by the "?" where there should have been "I", but a great concept nonetheless! |

Rather bad format here. System messages (IE: "You bite it!") should be on top, and, due to bad spacing, the whole room moves in some panels. The room itself isn't very inventive, and doesn't have a , which is unlikely (though not impossible.)
Oh right, the joke. The joke was excellent. |

I don't know whether this is where Austin got it, but in NethackW.exe, things you can't see are represented by ? icons.
This brings up a point. If you're a , and you get split in two, which is the real you? |

I just tried it out.
When a divides, it remains where it is, and a new with a fraction of its maxHP is generated next to it. If you are a , a will be generated next to you as your pet. It is named the same as your name, although if you kill it (or it somehow dies) it is referred to as 'a <color> corpse'.
What essentially happens then is, a pet with your name and current species is generated. Just like normally, if you 'die' unless wearing an "ofUnchanging, you 'return to orcishetc. form'.
L33t stuff! Great for existentialism discussions with Quantum Mechanics when they're not tending the LHC's black hole. |

Wellan, maybe Dudley was teleported in to that room and the only is the hidden one in the North wall where you can see the end of a corridor in panels 2-4.. OTOH, panels 1 and 5 should still show another corridor square in the North. |

if i remember correctly, until last few versions "I" was used to represent stalkers, and invisible things marked as "?"

No, ? has always been scrolls. But I was for seen invisible stalkers (P was for the other invisible monster, phantoms). Felt invisible things originally stayed invisible. |
