When Dudley is asleep, the webcomic may look inside Dudley's dreams (as today), or it may look outside, as http://www.nicolaas.net/dudley/index.php?f=20070928

I previously had an idea to draw one of Dudley's dreams. I now discard the idea, which is like so:

The newt(kinds of) small animal, like a lizard, which spends most of
its time in the water.
        [ Oxford's Student's Dictionary of Current English ]

"Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the cauldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg and howlet's wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble."
[ Macbeth, by William Shakespeare ]

wields a long sword named Vorpal"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand;
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

I actually didn't find it all that funny. Maybe I've been exposed to too many "You wake up." jokes, but...
Well, I rate it fair.

I'll say how I like it... but then casually mention how I could have executed this idea better than shown here. Which, of course, is true.

Not a bad idea, but it seems to be lacking something...

Rated excellent because I'm a sucker for subtle newt(kinds of) small animal, like a lizard, which spends most of
its time in the water.

That was ImposterGrog. Pay no mind to his antics. Unless you don't believe me, whatever.

OBJECTION!

You and this imposter both have the same number of comments! So it's unlikely that it's another person!

It's YOU!

The google ad today says 'dudley dating'. I find myself inexplicably disgusted.

Antheridium complains that the most recent Dudley date is 24 December 2007, eight days ago. I am coping with the lack of new strips by reading the not-contributed Dudley strips residing on my hard disk. But I also cannot explain how such lack of strips might cause disgust.

You completely misinterpret me. I was disgusted at the thought of someone taking Dudley out for a date.
