"What does msummon((struct monst *) 0) mean?"
I love it :-) I'm guessing it means to summon a monster, possibly Rodney (because he's monster #0?). |

Thank you for your accolades, everyone. I'll try to think up some more.
jtpk: Yes, that is exactly what msummon((struct monst *) 0) means. It is actually a direct quotation from the source. |

There is no '0' in the monster code. Maybe I should have used a , umber , and a pair of lichs. (You hit the . You dereference the NULL pointer. The summons a segmentation fault.) |

Monster Code -
What about those nifty accesoires for your feet that come complete with a _ ?
We got some more numbers as well - the monsters you see when warned (though I sadly have no idea if this ranges beyond 3) |

Monster warnings go up to at least 5 (that was a master or arch or a or ). And yes, I'm pretty sure that the ball of the ball and chain is a zero. |

Pirogo & jtpk: If you want to know for sure what a symbol means, then just ask nethack (slash, "n"o, symbol in question). By default, "6" through "9" are unassigned, although some people (including me) set "8" to mean a . (You can edit the meaning of symbols a good deal in the options, but then you can get confused when you try to post a comment here!) |
